History
Boasting a rich history since 1975 in Western Australia, AGI remodeled itself to better equip the Institute to engage with industry via its two core functions:
- holding industry networking events; and
- building capacity within the industry.
In 2013, the former Australian Grain Institute (WA chapter) was absorbed into the Grain Industry Association of Western Australia, to become the GIWA AGI Council, operating alongside GIWA’s other commodity councils.
The GIWA AGI Council commissioned the AGI Capacity Building Project (now branded as Careers In Grain) in 2014, to improve access to job-ready and skilled people by building and implement a comprehensive capacity building model for the WA grain industry, supported by a range of funding partners.
In 2015, the Project undertook research and stakeholder engagement activities in the grains sector and agreed on three key areas of focus – Attract, Upskill & Employ.
Whether you’re an individual within the grain industry, or a company or group looking to partner with an organisation dedicated to the successful future of the grain industry – we look forward to seeing you at one of our networking events or sharing ideas on how to better build capacity.
The Careers in Grain Council continues to provide a dedicated resource to coordinate, manage and be accountable to address the issue of diminishing workforce capacity that can contribute to a sustainable and indeed prosperous future for all industry stakeholders.
