Thanks to everyone who joined us for the GIWA Forum this year. Exploring the theme “Growing through collaboration: shaping tomorrow’s grain industry today,” this year’s Forum set the scene for the future of WA’s grains sector.
Following the opening address by The Hon Sabine Winton MLA Minister for Education; Early Childhood; Preventative Health; Wheatbelt, GIWA Chair Tress Walmsley launched the draft Strategic Priorities for the WA Grains Industry 2025–2035, now open for stakeholder feedback.
Brent Atthill, Managing Director of Switzerland’s RMI Analytics GmbH, unpacked shifting global consumer trends and their impact on beer consumption — insights critical for WA’s barley industry.
Cameron Wilson from Asahi Beverages, Oceania’s leading beverage powerhouse, shared Asahi’s sustainability philosophy and its journey toward sourcing sustainable barley, including the vital support it provides to growers.
Michael Morgan Chair of the WA Brewers Association and Hilton Izzett from the WA Distillers Guild joined Brent and Cameron for a panel discussion centring around the industry bodies landmark strategies that chart a bold course for the next decade.
