The Processed Oat Partnership (the POP) is offering up to ten $4500 AUD (exclusive of GST) bursaries to assist WA oat industry stakeholders to travel to Chile to attend OAT2026 and participate in any additional pre- or post-conference oat-focused side events arranged by GIWA.
POP International Study Tour will be centred on the 12th International Oat Conference to be held Pucón, Chile from November 17-22, 2026. ‘OAT2026’ industry conference occurs every 4-years and attracts leading international oat experts to explore the oat value chain from genetics and sustainable farming to nutrition, milling, and global markets.
It will provide WA oat industry stakeholders with an immersive and interactive capability building experience, broadening their understanding on global oat production trends and opportunities and gaining insights on successful international oat market development.
It is expected the International Study Tour itinerary will include engagement with local businesses, associations, and oat growers outside of the offerings of OAT2026. A strong WA contingent including growers, researchers, plant breeders, accumulators, traders, processors and manufacturers is expected to attend OAT2026.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for interested study tour participants. Successful applicants will receive $4500 AUD towards travel and attendance costs, with plans for sharing tour learnings in early 2027. EOIs can be submitted before Friday 10 April 2026. A POP-appointed selection panel will review submissions and acceptances will be confirmed late April / early May 2026.
