The 2026 OATSPO trials field day will feature more than ten oat growing trials at Hillside this September.
Western Australian oat researchers, growers and industry stakeholders are invited to attend ‘OATSPO26’ to learn more about the latest oat research and engage directly with trial site developers.
The State Government funded and industry-led Processed Oat Partnership (POP) will host the field day alongside ConsultAg’s Garren Knell, who is coordinating the current site and was instrumental in the delivery of OATSPO24.
“OASTPO24 was an incredibly successful field day, attracting more than 250 WA oat industry stakeholders to Narrogin,” Garren said.
“This year’s event will build on the knowledge attendees gained in 2024, while exploring new developments and updates in oat R&D.
“The trials field day will showcase variety management, nutrition strategies, seeding practices, pre and post emergent weed and disease control options, canopy management strategies, and hay quality.
“The aim is to provide a thorough overview of the oat growing journey and support our industry in strengthening its outstanding delivery of high quality, export-ready oats.”
OATSPO will be held on 15 September 2026, and is free to attend.

About the Processed Oat Partnership (POP)
The State Government and industry-led Processed Oat Partnership (POP) was a 2021 election commitment funded by Royalty for Regions and brings together the oat industry supply chain with the aim of growing the milling processed oat industry over the next two decades.
The POP aims to increase investment in the WA oat processing supply chain, including infrastructure, equipment and systems, to increase productive processing of raw oats locally, generating economic benefits for the State and increased job opportunities.
The Grain Industry Association of WA (GIWA), through the GIWA Oat Council, is the lead program partner and advisor, providing a communications portal between stakeholders.
